Sugar Cookies
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 14 minutes | Servings: 24 cookies
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
additional ½ cup granulated sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium mixing bowl whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl cream butter and sugar together for about four minutes until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla extract, beat for 1 minute.
At a low speed, add flour mixture until just incorporated.
Form 1 ½ tablespoon balls.
Roll dough balls in additional sugar.
Place cookie dough balls onto baking sheet about 1.5 inches apart.
Bake for 8 minutes.
Rotate pan and bake for an additional 6 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
Transfer pan to a wire rack and let cool for 10 minutes.
Remove cookies from baking pan and let them continue to cool on wire rack.
