Corn Tortillas
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 20 minutes | Servings: 16 tortillas
Ingredients
1½ cups masa harina
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 cup warm water
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine masa harina and salt.
Add vegetable oil to the flour mixture.
Slowly add warm water. Stir until mixture forms a ball.
Transfer dough to a well floured surface. Knead dough for about 2 minutes until smooth. Add additional water if needed to make the dough more elastic.
Wrap dough in plastic and let rest for at least 1 hour.
After dough has rested, pinch off 1½ inch pieces of dough. Press between 2 sheets of parchment paper using a tortilla press.
Heat a cast iron over medium-high heat.
Place tortilla in heated pan. Let cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, flipping 3 times. Surface of the tortilla starts to brown and bubble.
Note: If you do not have a tortilla press, you can roll out by hand.
