Flour Tortillas

Flour Tortillas

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Cook Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 16 tortillas

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup warm water

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder.

  2. Add vegetable oil and warm water to the flour mixture. Stir until mixture forms a ball.

  3. Transfer dough to a well floured surface and divide into 16 equal pieces.

  4. Shape each piece into a ball. 

  5. Cover dough and let rest for 20 minutes. 

  6. After dough has rested, on a lightly floured surface, roll each tortilla into a 6 inch diameter circle.

  7. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. 

  8. Place tortilla in heated pan. Let cook for 1 minute or until the surface of the tortilla starts to bubble and the bottom.

  9. Flip tortilla and cook on the other side for 30 seconds.
