Vanilla Extract

Vanilla Extract

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Servings: 8 ounces

Ingredients

  • 6 vanilla beans

  • 1 cup vodka

Directions

  1. Split the vanilla beans lengthwise. 

  2. Place vanilla beans in an 8-ounce jar. Cut the beans in half if necessary to fit the height of the jar.

  3. Pour vodka into the jar. Ensure that vanilla beans are completely submerged. 

  4. Close the jar and shake several times. 

  5. Store the vanilla extract in a cool, dark place for at least 6 months. 

  6. Vanilla extract will last for several years if the beans are fully submerged. Aged extract with beans removed will last indefinitely.
